Genesis 2:18-4:16
Garden of Eden being guarded by cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth!
We should bring our best to God-first fruits. Not the bit which is left.
We have the ability to master sin-lets do it
Matthew 2:1-18
How good would it be to get direct instructions from God in a dream like Joseph......
Psalm 2:1-12
God I want to take refuge in You.
Good thoughts ... the thing that struck me in the Genesis passage was the paradox talking about sending a ruler (king, warrior, judge etc.) that would be a shepherd (lowest of the low, carer blah blah) Mus have been an absolute mystery to people.
ReplyDelete... and I picked up the cherubim and flashing sword reference!!! Why had I not noticed that before?
Was thinking of connections with the King reference ... Herod wasn't the shepherding type at all...
Power, jealousy and infanticide ... now there's something to think on!
Even the psalm is about earthly kings and the King of Kings... Be wise and be warned, rulers of the earth!!!
I'd like to be wise!
As Adam and Eve had eaten from the tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil, if they then ate from the Tree of Life they would have lived an eternal life of sin. I see the guarding of the tree of life as God protecting Adam and Eve from this. He knew then what He would need to do to redeem His people and He knew that Adam and Eve would be restored to Him again.
ReplyDeleteIt would be wonderful if we took notice of the "flaming swords" surrounding those things that God doesnt want us to be involved with. I am sure that they are there, because I don't believe that God leaves us to cope alone in this world. He sends is Angels to protect us, but we have to accept the protection, not try to do it ourselves.
